Crow and Canary soars into their sixth year…
Crow and Canary is a travel-based repping agency, whose territories include Oregon, Washington, California, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. A focus on handmade products, eco-friendly practices and a talented line up of local and national designers, are just a few of the qualities that set Crow and Canary apart in the industry.
Meet Carina Murray.
Founder of Crow and Canary
Washington and Oregon sales rep
A childhood obsession with My Melody, Little Twin Stars and Hello Kitty stationery sets ignited a life long love for cards and paper.
Carina began experimenting with letterpress typesetting during her undergraduate days at The Evergreen State College and is the proud owner of her very own Chandler&Price platen press, affectionately nick-named “the Beast”.
An ardor for all things letterpress and passion for paper were driving forces in the formation of Crow and Canary. Though the company has gone on to represent a diverse line up of designers, letterpress, screen-printed and hand embellished cards remain at the core of the collection. Carina is a true champion of independent stationers and hopes that her passion and adoration for her job comes through via her blog and many social media endeavors. You can most often find Carina with her trusty canine companion, Ula, en route to show eager shops the latest and greatest from the C&C collection.
Meet Kendra Gjerseth.
Northern California sales rep
Greeting cards have always fascinated Kendra. As a child, she was mesmerized by the army of cards with embossed roses, foil-stamped typefaces and family members’ handwritten notes, all lined up on the television set in celebration. She admired how her grandfather cherished the greeting cards he received so much that he kept every one of them in his top dresser drawer. Kendra had no idea that one day, she would build a career in greeting cards: first as a manufacturer of a card line — then as a stationery boutique owner — and now as designer’s rep.
When not driving the scenic roads of Northern California or feeding her meter, Kendra spends time volunteering with The Rotary Club of Los Altos and showering her dog Millie with love and attention.
Meet Christine Shelly.
Southern California sales rep
Christine is proud to have neatly hoarded every card, letter and valentine she has ever received - many still in the original envelope. Her most current collection includes birthday and holiday cards featuring dachshunds (Christine and her husband have two).
A corporate job in the licensing world originally brought Christine to the National Stationery Show where she was thrilled to be surrounded by paper. Since then, she has been drawn to the smaller, unique independent lines. After leaving the corporate world, Christine has found joy working with retailers and manufacturers alike.
Christine enjoys learning and tackling various home improvement projects to renovate her 1920's Spanish style home. She can often be found discovering treasures at antiques stores and flea markets.
Meet Kimberley Yurkiewicz.
New York, New Jersey and Connecticut sales rep
Kimberley can't remember a time when she didn't love the mail. Having moved around a lot when she was younger than email, keeping in touch via letters to pen pals was the norm. Her first stationery memory is of a mustard-yellow lined notepad with three brown bubble letters across the top: k-i-m. she has since expanded her taste and style a bit from grade school, but that thrill of a "good mail day" remains the same.
From early days at a letterpress studio, adding both wholesale and retail management experience, to manufacturing and custom printing expertise, with valuable stops along the way at Crane & Co. and Kate's Paperie -- and her own boutique, Letterbox -- Kimberley has happily reached the point of using all of it to be a brain-stormer and cheerleader for her favorite designers and retailers. she is over the moon living in Brooklyn with her husband, Zach, and thinks New York is just about the best place on earth.
